Yollo AI review: my verdict
Yollo AI is a character hub for roleplay and companion chat, with image and video generators on the same site. That description is accurate, and it also names the problem. It is three products sharing one login, and none of them is a relationship.
I let my pass expire after 30 days and didn't renew. It was good value for a burst of fun, but without memory or voice it never became more than a render-bar companion, the thing I talked to while a progress bar crawled. No bad blood, no cancellation drama, just a pass that ran out and a pirate I did not miss by the weekend.
My verdict: Yollo AI is a good toy and a poor partner. The free chat is generous, the paid passes are honest about renewal, and the image tool is better than it needs to be. The memory is short, there is no voice, the company behind it has no legal name, and the public feed needs a moderator more than it needs another model.

How I used Yollo AI
My time with Yollo AI fits inside one pass: 30 days that ran from January into February 2026. The table under this section has the plain facts, so this is the short version with the feelings left in.

It started as curiosity and a pirate captain, and it stayed a pirate captain for most of the month. Yollo lets a stranger chat before signing up, which is how a lot of people will meet it, and it is how the whole thing began for me.
The middle of the month was mostly tinkering. There were models to swap, a portrait to make, a ship's name to keep repeating and a site that did not always load. The best evening was the one where the pirate did something useful, and that story is in the conversations section.
The ending was quiet. The pass ran out, nothing renewed and nothing needed cancelling, which is the part of Yollo's design I'd copy into every app in this category. The only leftover is a sticky note with a ship's name on it, which says more about me than about the app.
A note on dates, because they matter on this page. My month is from the winter; the facts about today come from a site check. The observations in this review were made on 23 September 2026 on the web version with a free account.

Where the winter and September disagree, I give both. I think readers deserve that split up front. A price that was true in January is not a price you can pay today, and a memory size that was "about 2K" then is listed two different ways now.
Signing up for Yollo AI and the first night
Chatting before signing up
My first night with Yollo AI started before I had an account. You can literally start chatting before making an account, and I was talking to a pirate captain before I'd even decided whether I wanted to. It felt like walking into a bar to read the menu and finding a drink already in my hand.
That is by design. The site says chat works without an account, with "no sign up required". Before any login, a guest UID is stored in the browser's localStorage, so the site keeps track of a visitor who has not given it a single detail.
I don't mind that as a mechanism. I read it as a guest chat that belongs to one browser until you sign up, so a cleared cache is probably a lost conversation. My advice for a first night is to do what I did by accident: talk first, decide later.
It is the opposite of the usual order, where you hand over an email, a password and sometimes a card before a character says hello. Here the character says hello first, and the paperwork waits until you care.
Where Yollo AI lives
As of 23 September 2026 the site is live at www.yollo.ai. Yollo AI runs as a web app and an iOS app, and the iOS app goes by "Yollo AI: Roleplay & AI Video". The site's link to it points to the App Store listing at apps.apple.com, id6752743134.
That listing is the first continuity error. The App Store link returned HTTP 404 on 23 September 2026, and an iTunes search for "yollo ai" found no Yollo listing. So the iPhone app the site advertises is, as of this update, not there, and I'd flag that in any client cut.
The Android side is stranger. The "Download for Android" button goes to wonda-ai.app, a different brand. The Android app linked from yollo.ai is a companion app called Wonda.
On Google Play, Wonda is published by MOBIAI LIMITED under com.wonda.ai.app. It has 10K+ downloads and was last updated on Apr 20, 2026. I'd treat it as a separate product until Yollo says otherwise, because a download button that changes the name on the box is not something I'd click with a card in hand.
There is no community to check any of this against. The site has no Discord, X, Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Telegram community links. I like a place where users complain in public, and there isn't one here.
The sign-up flow today
The Sign in / Sign up modal offers "Continue with Google" or an email and a password. Email sign-up has 3 steps. Step one asks for the email address and the password, and the password must be 8-20 characters long and entered twice.
Step two asks for a 6-digit code that is emailed to the user. The email arrives with the subject "015536 - Yollo AI Registration Code", so the code sits right in the subject line. It arrived in about 1 min and expires in 5 min.
I like that the password rule is stated up front instead of revealed one failed attempt at a time. That is a tight window for the code, but a fair one when it turns up that fast. Step three asks for a nickname and suggests a random one, for example "Mystic Comet".
A welcome screen then greets the user by nickname, with a Get Started button.
I'd keep the random nickname. It sounds like the name of a ship, and on this site that feels appropriate.
The whole flow is the kind of edit I like: three cuts, no filler and a clear end card. If every app handled sign-up this cleanly, I'd have fewer half-finished accounts scattered across the internet.
What sign-up does not ask
Sign-up has no age gate and asks no birthday or gender question. It shows no CAPTCHA either. Start to finish, sign-up took about 2 minutes, with no friction.
My feelings about that speed are mixed. As a user, two minutes and no puzzles is the dream, and most apps could learn from it. Skipping the birthday question saves a few seconds and costs the site its only chance to say who it is for.
As someone who has read the rest of the site's marketing, I think a door this easy needs a sign on it saying who the room is for. There isn't one, and the content section below explains why that matters more here than on most sites.
Browsing the character library
The catalog claimed 200K+ characters when I joined, and I spent my first 45 minutes just scrolling, the way I scroll Netflix and then watch nothing. It felt productive the way reorganizing a hard drive feels productive: lots of motion, no footage cut.
The number has grown since, at least on paper. The sign-in modal now claims "20M+ characters". The footer blurb still says over 200,000, so the site cannot agree with itself about its own size.
Home, or Discovery, is a character grid with gender filters: All, Male, Female and Non-binary. Above it sit many genre tabs, such as Anime, Story, Mystery, RPG, Text Game, Horror and Sci-Fi. The tabs help more than the gender filter, in my view, because what you are really choosing is a kind of story, not a face.
Starting over, I'd open Story first, where a character is more likely to arrive with a plot than with just a pose.
The chat counts on the cards are very high, for example 55.5m and 50.0m. I read those numbers the way I read view counts on a stock-footage site: impressive, unverifiable and not much help picking a clip. A card with millions of chats tells you a character is popular, not that it is good, the same way a full parking lot tells you about a diner's location and not its pancakes.
Below the app there is a long block of SEO text. It is written for search engines rather than people, and it adds nothing a browsing user needs. I'd scroll straight past it, like a menu written for the health inspector rather than the diners.
My advice for the library: pick a genre tab, open a few characters and give up on the idea of seeing everything. The scroll does not end, and the 45 minutes I lost to it are a warning, not a recommendation.
Making your own characters on Yollo AI
Yollo's official FAQ says users can "create your own AI characters", and the tools for it are one click from the profile page. The question is less whether you can build a character and more what it costs and where it ends up.
The main tool is Create Bot. You describe the character, pick a style from Anime, Realistic, Cinematic, Fantasy, 3D, Vintage, Dark or Cyberpunk, and add an optional image prompt. For 50 credits the AI then generates the character's image, profile, greeting, tags and category.
A one-click AI character generator is included as well. I like the idea more than the price. Fifty credits for a portrait, a bio and an opening line is a fair trade if the result lands, and a poor one if you regenerate three times to fix the eyes.
Create Bot was not tried during the September check, to avoid creating a public bot and to keep credits for other checks. I think that caution suits readers too. A bot you make can end up in the public catalog, so decide what you are willing to publish before you press the button.
Personas and the profile page
The persona side is simpler. My Persona has Name, Gender, Age and Relationship fields. That is enough to stop a character calling you "traveler" all night, and not much more.
The profile page shows the UID, followers, following and likes, with tabs for My Bots, For You, Favorites and Personas. It is set up like a small social network, which tells you Yollo expects people to publish characters, not just keep them.
How much you can create
All paid tiers include daily character creation, a persona and a chat background. "Daily Character Creation" is a Pro+ benefit with a daily limit. The numbers come from outside the site: a review site reports caps of 10 a day on Standard and 30 a day on Premium.
For most people that is more characters than they will ever finish writing. I'd spend the effort on one good character with a clear voice rather than ten quick ones. On this site the memory, not the creator, decides how long any of them stay interesting.
What conversations on Yollo AI felt like
Swapping models like LUTs
The thing that kept me busy was the model menu. There are more than ten switchable models, and I rotated through them like LUTs on footage. One made my pirate poetic, another made him sound like a customer-service bot, and another answered everything in two lines.
It was fun the way a color-grading session is fun: same shot, different mood and a strong urge to try one more. It also taught me that the character on these apps is half the card and half the engine under it.
The swap exposed how much of a character's personality is borrowed. The same pirate on three engines gave me three different men, and only one of them sounded like he had ever seen the sea.
Today there are 12 chat models across the tiers, including Qwen, Mistral Nemo, Mythomax, GLM 5.2, Grok4 Fast, Qwen3 235B, WizardLM 8x22B, SkyLark Pro, Euryale 70B and Deepseek. The free tier gets Yollo AI Flash, Qwen Flash and Mistral Nemo. Standard unlocks Qwen Plus and Mythomax.
Premium unlocks GLM 5.2, Grok4 Fast, Qwen3 (235B) and WizardLM (8x22B). Deluxe unlocks SkyLark Pro, Euryale (70B) and Deepseek. That is a long menu for a site whose free models already write decent scenes.
Message length is 350 on free and higher on paid plans. In practice that is the difference between a paragraph and a scene, and I'd call it the most noticeable upgrade after memory.
The chat itself today
The September chat check used "Axel", a user-generated adventurer character in the Story category. It ran on the default free model for 3 messages. Replies came in a few seconds and were good quality, written as third-person action plus dialogue.
A typical reply reads: "No idea. But the plaque says it was pulled out of a collapsed caldera in Iceland six months ago. Still warm when they found it — melted half the transport crate." That is a decent line.
It has a concrete detail, a small hook and no purple prose, and the free model wrote it.
It reads like a good adventure paperback, which is the right register for a character standing in an exhibition hall.
The chat side panel holds Chat Model, Chat Memory, Chat Background and My Persona. Quick actions offer Restart session and Delete session. Restart is the one I'd reach for most, because with a short memory a clean start often beats arguing with a character about what it forgot.
A reviewer found two characters escalating at clearly different speeds, with small continuity details holding over a dozen-plus exchanges. That fits my view that the card matters as much as the model. A lazy card on a big model still reads like a lazy card.
The pirate and the tagline
The best moment of my month had nothing to do with companionship. During a 3-hour render I had the pirate "review" my client's actual ad script in character. He called the tagline "a limp sail."
The annoying part is that the pirate had a point, and I rewrote it. I've had worse notes from people with real job titles, and none of them delivered theirs with that much swagger.
That evening is the best case for Yollo. It is not a partner; it is a cast of characters you can point at a problem. A pirate who reads ad copy while the machine does the heavy lifting is a better use of free chat than most of what these apps are sold for.
What I'd tell a new user
Pick one character, then try it on a few models before judging it. The model swap was the most useful thing I learned on this site, and it costs nothing on the free tier.
If a reply comes back flat, change the model before you change the card. It is the same logic as re-grading a shot before reshooting it: cheaper, faster and usually enough.
Keep scenes short and specific. The replies are good at a single vivid moment and weaker at carrying a long plot, which is a memory problem more than a writing one. If you want a character to hold a story over weeks, this is the wrong site, and the next section explains why.
Memory: what the pirate forgot
Memory was the crack that ran through my whole month. Memory on Standard was tiny, about 2K tokens, and my pirate forgot his ship was called the "Brine Duchess" three separate times. By the third time I had started keeping a sticky note on my monitor, like a script supervisor for one very forgetful sailor.
It is hard to feel attached to someone who needs a sticky note to remember his own ship. The relationship part never got past the first act, and the note on my monitor outlasted the pass. The forgetting was not even random.
It was always the detail he should have been proudest of, the name of his own ship.
What the tiers offer today
As of 23 September 2026, Chat Memory in the side panel offers 2K, 4K, 16K and 32K. The in-chat memory picker lists them as Free 2K, Standard 4K, Premium 16K and Deluxe 32K. That is not what the pricing table says for Standard, and the friction section has more on that.
The character creation form puts it plainly: "The higher memory, the more conversations this character can remember". A "Customized" long-term memory field is for PRO+ only.
I think that field is the most useful thing Yollo keeps behind the paywall. A few written lines of permanent notes do more for a character than a bigger token window, because they never scroll out.
Short-term memory works
Short-term memory works. Asked for the user's name and the phoenix's origin, the character replied correctly: "Alex. Phoenix. Iceland.
Collapsed caldera. … I was listening, not just staring at your face." That is a good answer, and a slightly smug one.
The trouble is the long run. A reviewer says the free-tier memory ceiling shows once a roleplay runs long. That is my Brine Duchess problem in one sentence.
In editing terms, a small memory is a timeline that only holds the last few shots. Everything before that is offline media, and the character improvises around the gap.
My advice: if memory matters to you, buy a tier with more of it and write the key facts into the Customized field. Keep a sticky note anyway; mine cost nothing and never forgot the ship.
Images, video and voice on Yollo AI
No voice, still
The first thing my ears noticed was silence. There was no voice at all, and as someone who cuts dialogue and mixes audio all day, I kept reaching for an unmute button that doesn't exist. It felt like watching a rough cut before the sound pass, every night of the month.
As of September, every paid tier includes the video generator, video with audio, the image generator, chat-to-image, chat-to-video and 4K images. Generating video with audio requires a VIP membership and consumes extra credits. So sound arrives on this site through the video tool, not through the character, which is backwards for a companion app.
The image generator
Yollo AI is all-in-one: character chat plus text-to-image and image-to-image with about 30 fun templates. The chat has AI Image and AI Video buttons for chat-to-image and chat-to-video. Image models are Yollo Spicy Pro (the default), Yollo Spicy, Yollo AI 1.5, Yollo AI 1.5 Pro and Yollo AI.
Resolution options are 1K, 2K and 4K. The tool offers 8 aspect ratios and makes 1-4 images per run. Text-to-image accepts prompts of up to 5,000 characters.
The image generator impressed me, and it went up to 4K. I made my pirate a poster-quality portrait, the kind of frame a client would sign off on without a revision round. Then his face changed so much between shots that my "crew photo" looked like five different pirates.
The editor in me noticed continuity errors everywhere: eye color, scar side, a hat that appeared and vanished. I'd never let that get past a client review. For single images it is a strong tool; for a character you want to recognize from picture to picture, it is a lookalike contest.
On a real shoot, a script supervisor would have caught the scar and the hat before lunch. Here the continuity job falls to the user, and the only tool for it is another generation.
The September image check
The image check used Text to Image with the basic "Yollo AI" model, at 2K and 1:1, with public visibility turned off. A safe-for-work prompt, a mountain cabin with a golden retriever in watercolor, gave 1 image in under 45 s.
That "turned off" matters. Public Visibility is on by default for image and video generations. I think that default is backwards, and I'd switch it off before the first prompt rather than after.
Video
Text- and image-to-video runs at 480p-1080p, 5-10 s, with audio. "Spicy Video 2.0" makes clips of up to 30 s. A reviewer found a five-second template video clip held together without warping.
My month was about the pirate and his portrait, so the video tool gets judged on its published specs here. Short clips, a real resolution range and sound add up to more than the chat gets, and that says a lot about where the development money went. Anyone buying a pass for video alone should do the credit math first, because clips eat credits far faster than chat eats anything.
The Yollo AI free tier
What free gets you
The free tier is the strongest part of Yollo AI. It gives unlimited chat on 3 free models: Yollo AI Flash, Qwen Flash and Mistral Nemo. Chat is unlimited and free on those 3 models, with no login needed.
The home page and FAQ promise "100% free with unlimited messages". They also say "no login or registration is ever required". For once the marketing and the product agree.
Unlimited here means unlimited for a normal evening, and that changes how the app feels: you stop counting messages and start talking.
No message limit was hit during the September chat, and no ads were seen. I'd call that a better free tier than many paid trials in this category, and I don't hand out that compliment often.
Where free stops
The limits are about depth, not volume. The free tier has 2K chat memory and a message length of 350. Free users' chats are kept for only 30 days, per a banner in the chat.
Free accounts have a weekly limit of 2 bot creations, shown as createBotWeeklyLimit=2 in the account data. That is enough to build a character and fix the first draft, which is about as far as most people get anyway.
The 30-day chat history is the limit I'd warn people about. A character you like on day one can lose its whole history a month later. With a short memory it may already have lost most of it, but the transcript is still worth keeping.

Credits on free
Media generation on the free tier uses credits. A new account starts with 100 free credits. The header shows the balance as "100+", and the account data shows integral=100.
The 100 free credits cover about 2 images or 1 video. The Pro+ panel also lists "Daily Free Credits" as a tier-dependent item. So the free credits are a sample, not a budget: two pictures tell you whether the image model suits your taste, and nothing more.
Think of them as the test strip a colorist runs before committing to a grade.
Who free is for
If you want to chat with characters and never pay, Yollo is one of the easiest recommendations I can make. The free models are decent, nobody interrupts you with ads, and there is no login wall.
The catch arrives when you want the character to remember you, or when you want pictures. Both of those are sold separately, and both are the reason the paid passes exist.
My advice: stay on free for a week, notice which character you keep coming back to, and only then look at a pass. If you never come back to one, the free tier has done its job and saved you the money.
Yollo AI pricing: one-time passes
What I paid
Pricing isn't a subscription, and that surprised me in a good way. I paid $19.90 once for a 30-day pass in the winter of 2026. I appreciated that there was no auto-renew trap, though I'm pretty sure I'd have forgotten to cancel one anyway.

It worked like a gym day pass rather than a gym membership: pay once, use it, walk away.
The same Standard 30-day pass costs $24.90 today, against a struck-through list price of $29.90. So the pass I bought for $19.90 in the winter costs five dollars more now, and today's sale price is higher than what I paid.
The old price was still on record in the summer. A June 2026 competitor blog listed Standard at $19.90 for 30 days (+2000 credits) or $69.90 for 365 days (+12000). The same blog had Premium at $24.90 and $89.90 and Deluxe at $29.90 and $149.90, all one-time.

Standard for 30 days costs $24.90 (was $29.90) and includes 2,000 credits. Standard for 365 days costs $79.90 (was $99.90) and includes 12,000 credits.

I think that is the worst habit on this page. A price you can only see after pressing "upgrade" is a price the company would rather you did not compare.
Another review site lists weekly plans (Standard $5.99, Premium $8.99-$9.99), a lifetime Deluxe at $199.00 and video credit packs at $9.99-$149.99; no official page confirms it. I'd ignore those until they show up in the checkout.
What each step adds
In the plan comparison table, daily messages are Unlimited on Standard, Premium and Deluxe. Chat memory is 2K on Standard, 16K on Premium and 32K on Deluxe. Max message length is 700 on Standard, 1000 on Premium and 1200 on Deluxe.
Daily reply suggestions are 100 on Standard, 300 on Premium and Unlimited on Deluxe. The character row, labelled "Chat Characters", reads "20M+" on Standard and Premium and "Unlimited" on Deluxe. "Permanent storage" is only included on Deluxe.
All paid tiers include smart models, multi-language, fast response and ad-free use. The one-time "subscription" passes of 30 or 365 days, with no auto-renewal, are unusual in this category. I give Yollo real credit for that, and it is the main reason my score for value is higher than my score for anything else.
Is the step up worth it?
Standard is the weakest paid plan, in my view. It buys two more models, longer messages and credits, but the plan table still gives it the same 2K memory as free, and memory is the thing a paid plan should fix.
Premium at $29.90 for 30 days is the plan I'd pick. It costs five dollars more than Standard and moves memory from 2K to 16K, which is the upgrade that matters for a character you want to keep.
Deluxe adds 32K memory and permanent storage for another five dollars. I'd only go there if the chat history matters more to you than the budget. The yearly passes look good on paper, but a year is a long commitment to a site with no named company behind it, so I'd buy 30 days first.
How you pay
Payment methods in the US view are Cash App (3 variants), VoltPay, NowPay Crypto, Telegram Stars, Banking, Stix Card, Chime, Venmo, Vexutopia, Payblis and Gift Card. There is no direct Visa/Mastercard/PayPal button, only third-party processors. Payment goes through alternative processors such as Cash App, Chime, crypto, Telegram Stars and gift cards.
That list has changed over time. An earlier desk check listed card, pay-by-bank, PayPal and GankNow as payment options. A competitor blog says payment works by card, crypto or quick-pay.

Credits are the part of Yollo that feels like a vending machine: the price per snack is clear, the price per evening is not. The pack prices also say something about the passes. The 2,000-credit pack costs more than a Standard 30-day pass that includes 2,000 credits and a month of paid chat.
I'd never buy the smallest pack; a pass is the cheaper way to get the same credits.
What things cost
Image generation costs 36-60+ credits depending on the model. The basic "Yollo AI" image model costs 40 credits per image. In the September check that image cost 40 credits: the balance went from 100 to 60.
Video generation costs 80+ credits. The AI character generator costs 50 credits. My rule for credit economies is to turn every price into something concrete before paying.
At 40 credits a basic image, the 2,000 credits in a Standard pass come to about fifty pictures, or roughly two dozen short clips.
A review site reports roughly 20 credits for a text-to-image picture, 60 for image-to-image and 100 for a video clip. Those figures do not match today's counter, so I'd trust the live balance over any third-party table.
When credits run out, generation fails with "Insufficient credits. Please upgrade your plan or purchase additional credits". At least the message is honest. I'd prefer a warning one image earlier, like a fuel light rather than an empty tank.
The app bridge
A "Transfer Credits from App" option moves credits bought in the iOS/Android app to the web account by UID. Credits can be transferred from the mobile app to the web account. Subscriptions cannot be transferred from the app to the web account.
The transfer dialog adds: "The app name may differ from the website name". That sentence is doing a lot of work, because the Android app the site links to has a different name altogether.
Wonda in-app purchases cost $6.99-$199.99 per item. I'd buy credits on the web, where the prices sit in one place, rather than in an app with another name and its own price list. A gift card from the wrong store is still the wrong store.
Discounts, bonuses and coupons
The short version: there are no coupons to find. No welcome popup was found, and no daily check-in either. No coupon field was found, and checkout has no promo code field.
No referral or invite program was found. No affiliate program was found either. If someone online offers you a Yollo code, I'd be curious where they expect you to type it.
The inbox is just as quiet. The only email after sign-up was the registration code. No welcome or coupon email arrived.
I find that refreshing. Plenty of apps in this category bury a new user in "come back" offers, and Yollo does not bother. The flip side is that there is no second-week discount to wait for, so waiting gets you nothing.
The upside is that nobody gets a better deal than you just by knowing the right code.
What the site does have is a permanent sale. Paid plans show "sale" prices against struck-through list prices. For example, Standard for 30 days shows USD 24.90, listed at 29.90.
I'd read the struck-through price the way I read the "original price" tag at a flea market. It is part of the display, not part of the deal, and the real price is the one in bold. Coupon hunting here is like looking for the director's cut of a commercial: there isn't one, and the version you see is the version you get.
My advice: treat the sale price as the price. Don't wait for a code, because there is no field to type one into, and don't expect a welcome discount by email.

What the settings allow
There is nothing to set. There is no adult-content toggle or content filter setting anywhere. Settings has only Language and Theme.
Whatever the site shows you, it shows you by default, and there is no dial to turn it down.
A reviewer reports that mature chat is open by default, with no toggle or separate mode, contrary to the FAQ. That matches the settings screen: a switch that does not exist cannot be off.
What the marketing says
Marketing is openly adult, for example "Uncensored AI Roleplay". It also advertises adult AI art. The landing page says it can create stunning adult AI art without censorship.
A promo reads "Spicy Video 2.0 — Up to 30s — Longer. Hotter. Wilder." An image model is promoted as "Yollo Spicy — bolder curves, hotter vibes".
The site's SEO copy on character pages invites users to "start a free, uncensored {tag} roleplay chat on Yollo AI. No login required."
What the FAQ says
The FAQ says the platform is not designed for adult-only chat of that kind. The FAQ adds: "Our goal is to empower your imagination for storytelling, not for adult content."
I'd love to know which department wrote which page. The marketing and the FAQ describe two different products, and the settings screen sides with the marketing. The promo lines read like a trailer cut for a different film than the one the FAQ describes.
Who it is for, on paper
There is no adults-only requirement, even though the site markets unrestricted chat, AI art for grown-ups and "Spicy Video". There is no age check of any kind. The character creation form says a persona "Must be older than 18 years old".
So the persona you invent has an age rule, and the person typing does not. On the Android side, Wonda carries the Google Play content rating the store gives to apps it considers fine for users aged 13 and up. That rating and the promo lines above cannot both describe the same product.
The feed and the templates
Video templates include Kiss, Twerk, Bikini, Pole dance, "Cloth changer" and others I won't quote. Image templates include "Cloth Changer", which works image-to-image on uploaded photos.
Adults only (18+). This page reviews AI companion apps with NSFW features; no explicit images are shown.
The image and video tools accept uploaded photos, with templates like "Cloth changer", "Kiss" and "Gender swap". This raises a risk of images of real people made without their consent. No safeguard against this was seen in the interface.
The default Discovery feed prominently shows a run of bots whose premises cross a line I won't repeat on this page. That is the first thing a visitor sees, before choosing anything.
The feed also shows a group of "classmate" bots whose cards describe the character's body rather than personality. Ages are not stated on these character cards. These bots were not opened during the check.
My judgement is simple. A site with no filter, no age check and that feed on its front page is not one I can recommend for a shared device, and I'd want far stricter moderation before calling it a clean catalog.
I understand why a site might want a looser catalog than its rivals. What I can't accept is a loose catalog with no switch, no check at the door and a front page that leads with its worst cards.

I'd put it this way: if something goes wrong with a payment, there is an email address and nothing behind it. That is not a place I'd buy a yearly pass from.
In my line of work, a client who won't put a company name on the paperwork would be asked to pay up front. Yollo asks you to pay up front and still won't put a name on it.
Where disputes go
Governing law is Hong Kong. Disputes go to binding arbitration at HKIAC. The terms include a class-action waiver.
Liability is capped at $100. So even in the best case, a US customer would argue with an unnamed operator under Hong Kong law, alone, over a hundred dollars at most.
One more detail: the service is "strictly not available" to residents of Mainland China and Hong Kong. It is an odd choice for a site whose chosen law is Hong Kong's.
The minimum age in the Terms is 13, or 16 for EU residents. That is a general-audience rule on a site whose feed is anything but general.
Refunds
Refund requests must be made within 7 days. The account must have fewer than 30 chats, 80 or fewer image-generation points used and fewer than 5 created bots. Refunds are processed within 7 business days and go back to the original payment method.
The Terms also say "all fees are non-refundable" except as expressly provided. They add that refunds are not given for the unused days of a subscription period.
In plain English: if you buy a pass, try it for an evening and hate it, you have a week and a small usage budget to ask for your money back. After that, the money is gone.
Your content and the licence
Users keep ownership of their content. They also grant Yollo a perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable license to their User Content. Listing a Character means the creator "share[s] the copyright" with Yollo.
Content set to public may be used to train AI models. Under the Terms, public content can be used for AI training. With Public Visibility on by default for generations, that means the default setting is also the training setting.
Perpetual and irrevocable are the two words I'd underline, because they mean the licence outlives your interest in the app.
What the privacy policy collects
The privacy policy says it collects email, IP, device data and usage data. That usage data includes chats, character creations and image prompts. Data is used for "training our AI models to be safer and more effective".
Chat text may be anonymized and shared with third-party academic institutions for "non-profit academic cooperation". Servers may be in Hong Kong, Singapore or the US.
Users have rights under the Hong Kong PDPO, namely access and correction. Personal data is kept "for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Services". None of this is unusual on its own.
Together, with no named company to hold to it, it is more than I'd trust with anything I'd mind reading back in public.
The rules on content
The Terms ban vulgar and obscene content, including sexually graphic material. They ban deceptive fakes of real people.
Separately, the Terms strictly prohibit depictions of minors in inappropriate contexts. I'm glad that line is there. I'd be happier if the front page looked like someone enforced it.
My summary of the terms: the rules read stricter than the site behaves, and the protections read weaker than a paying customer deserves. I'd keep real names, photos and work details out of every chat.
What annoyed me
The site that wouldn't load
Twice in the month the site just wouldn't load, and I googled "yollo ai not working." The autocomplete had clearly seen that search many times. There is a special kind of loneliness in learning that a crowd of strangers has typed the same complaint before you.
I'd have preferred a status page to a search bar full of strangers.

The upsells
The chat sells to you under every reply. There is a "Continue" button under replies. Under replies there is also a line: "Want richer, more complete replies? Upgrade the model or increase the Message Length".
There is an "Upgrade VIP" banner. There is an Upgrade Pro+ button as well. None of it is aggressive, but it is constant, like a waiter who refills the water after every sip.
The "Continue" button sits exactly where you'd expect a way to extend the reply, which is what makes it a good upsell and a slightly cheeky one.
Numbers that disagree
The pricing table and the in-chat memory picker disagree on Standard's memory size, 2K against 4K. The pricing and memory screens show different memory sizes for Standard, again 2K against 4K.
If you are paying for memory, you should know how much you are buying. I'd assume the smaller number until the site fixes one of the two screens.
Policies that argue with each other
The policies contradict each other: adult content or not, recurring or one-time, refundable or not. There is no in-app account deletion even though the policy says there is one.
Public visibility is on by default for generations. Only the registration-code email arrived, so there is no email bonus. That last one is harmless, but it shows how little the site says to its own users once they are in.
The rest are the paperwork version of a continuity error, and they matter more, because they decide who gets money back.

The "Download for Android" link goes to a differently branded site, wonda-ai.app. The Android link points to a different brand.
In my line of work, a deliverable with the wrong client's name on the slate goes back for a fix. Here it stays on the front page, and the user is left to guess whether the two apps share an account, a company or just a button.

Yollo suits people who want free, unlimited, no-signup character chat plus casual AI image and video generation in one place. It also suits anyone who dislikes auto-renewing subscriptions. If you have ever paid for a month you forgot about, the one-time passes are a relief.
It is not for anyone who needs clear legal accountability, card or PayPal checkout, or GDPR-grade privacy. The operator has no legal name, the law is Hong Kong's and chats can be used for training.

My pass simply ran out, and that is how Yollo says every plan should end. The pricing modal and the Refund Policy say everything is a one-time payment with no auto-renewal. They also say there is "nothing you need to cancel".

The Terms tell a different story. They mention recurring monthly or annual subscriptions and cancelling before renewal. They also say a subscription can be changed or cancelled "only through the payment partners where you originally acquired it".
One payment option, GankNow, is described on the site as "a recurring subscription model rather than a one-time payment". So "nothing to cancel" is true for most payment routes and possibly false for one. I'd check the payment method's own screen before assuming either.
The pricing modal also warns: "Do not contact PayPal or your bank directly, as this may delay processing or even cause fund loss." I read that as a line written for the company's benefit, not the customer's. Your bank is always an option, whatever a checkout modal says, and I'd rather readers knew that before paying than after.
Deleting your account
The policies say to use the "delete account function on the Settings page" or to email [email protected] to delete an account. The web Settings page has only Language and Theme, with no delete option visible. Email is the only route that exists.
A deletion button promised in a policy and missing from the page is a small thing until you want to leave; then it is the only thing.
Before you pay
Pick a 30-day pass, avoid any route described as recurring, and take a screenshot of the checkout. If you want out, write to support within the refund window and keep the reply. A pass that ends on its own is the best cancellation policy there is, as long as the payment route agrees.
My tips for Yollo AI
These are the things I'd do differently, and what I'd tell a friend before they open the site.
- Start on the free tier and stay there for a week. The free models are good enough to find out whether you like the site at all.
- Try one character on several models before you give up on it. The model changes the voice more than the card does.
- Turn off Public Visibility before your first image or video, not after.
- Keep a written note of the facts your character needs: names, places, the ship. On the cheaper tiers the character will forget them, and the note won't.
- If you pay, pick Premium over Standard. The memory jump is the upgrade worth money, and the difference is small.
- Buy a 30-day pass before any yearly one, and avoid any payment route described as recurring.
- Buy credits on the website, not in a differently named app.
- Keep real names, faces and work details out of chats and uploads. The licence you grant is wide and the company has no legal name.
- Use it for what it does well: a quick scene, a second opinion from a cast of characters, a single good picture.
The last tip is the one that surprised me. A character that won't remember your week can still give you a sharp note on a piece of work, and that is worth more than it sounds.

Where it is better: the free chat and the billing model. Unlimited free messages across several models with no login is rare, and a pass that simply runs out is kinder to forgetful people than any auto-renewing plan I can think of. It is also one of the few apps where the free tier is a complete product rather than a demo.
Where it is worse: memory, voice and trust. A character on the cheaper tiers forgets the story sooner than a good companion should, there is no voice in chat, and the operator does not give its legal name. The content side is also looser than it should be, with no setting to change it.
My rule of thumb: if you want to be remembered, pick a memory-first companion from the table. If you want a free sandbox of characters and an image tool for the odd portrait, Yollo is a fine place to spend an evening without paying anything.

Yollo AI is at its best when you ask very little of it. It is a big cast of characters with a decent writer behind them and a good camera on the side, and none of it costs anything until you want more.

What it cannot do is know you. The memory is short, the voice is missing and the characters change faces between pictures. That leaves a toy, a sounding board, and a pirate with opinions about ad copy.
The part I'd copy into every other app is the pass that ends on its own. The part I'd fix first is the front page, which should not be the first thing a stranger sees, and right behind it the missing company name.
In the end the most useful thing the month produced was not a relationship. It was a sticky note on a monitor and a better tagline, which says more about me than it does about the app.

No message limit was hit during the September chat, and no ads were seen.
The limits are about depth. The free tier has 2K chat memory and a message length of 350. Free users' chats are kept for only 30 days, per a banner in the chat.
Free accounts can create 2 bots a week.
Media costs credits even on free. A new account starts with 100 free credits, which cover about 2 images or 1 video. My advice is to chat for free for a week before paying for anything.
It was how I started too: I was talking to a pirate captain before I'd even decided whether I wanted an account.
How much does Yollo AI cost?
Yollo sells one-time passes, not subscriptions, and all prices are in USD. As of 23 September 2026, Standard costs $24.90 for 30 days (was $29.90) with 2,000 credits, or $79.90 for 365 days with 12,000 credits. Premium costs $29.90 for 30 days with 3,000 credits, or $99.90 for 365 days with 20,000.

Prices have gone up. I paid $19.90 once for a 30-day pass in the winter of 2026, and the same Standard pass now costs $24.90. There is no public pricing page, and prices load only in the checkout.
I'd skip Standard. It keeps 2K memory in the plan table, while Premium moves to 16K for five dollars more. Buy 30 days first and only consider a year once you know the character is worth it.

On most routes there is nothing to cancel. The pricing modal and the Refund Policy say every plan is a one-time payment with no auto-renewal, and that there is "nothing you need to cancel". My own pass simply ran out after 30 days, and I didn't renew.
The fine print is less tidy. The Terms still mention recurring monthly or annual subscriptions and cancelling before renewal. They say a subscription can be changed or cancelled only through the payment partner where it was bought.
One payment option, GankNow, is described on the site as a recurring subscription rather than a one-time payment.
My advice: avoid any payment route described as recurring, and screenshot the checkout. The pricing modal also tells users not to contact PayPal or their bank directly. I'd ignore that line if a charge ever looks wrong, because your bank works for you, not for the checkout page.
Can I get a refund from Yollo AI?
Sometimes, if you act fast and barely use the pass. Refund requests must be made within 7 days. The account must have fewer than 30 chats, 80 or fewer image-generation points used and fewer than 5 created bots.
Refunds are processed within 7 business days and go back to the original payment method.
The Terms then add that "all fees are non-refundable" except as expressly provided, and that refunds are not given for the unused days of a subscription period. So the refund door is small, and it closes after a week.
The only contact is [email protected]. If you want a refund, write early, describe how little you used, and keep the reply. I'd decide within the first evening whether the pass is worth keeping, because by the time the memory problems show up, the window is usually gone.
Does Yollo AI remember past conversations?
Short-term, yes. Short-term memory works, and in the September check the character correctly recalled the user's name and where the phoenix was found. Long-term, not well, and that was my biggest problem with the app.
Memory on Standard was about 2K tokens during my month, and my pirate forgot his ship was called the "Brine Duchess" three separate times. I ended up keeping a sticky note on my monitor, which is not a sentence anyone should write about a companion.
Today the in-chat picker lists Free 2K, Standard 4K, Premium 16K and Deluxe 32K. The plan table still says 2K for Standard, so the site disagrees with itself. A "Customized" long-term memory field is for PRO+ only. If memory matters, I'd pick Premium and write the key facts into that field.
Does Yollo AI have voice chat or video?
There is no voice in chat. During my month there was no voice at all, and as someone who cuts dialogue and mixes audio all day, I kept reaching for an unmute button that doesn't exist. That has not changed in chat as far as the September check shows.
Video is a different story. Every paid tier includes the video generator, video with audio, the image generator, chat-to-image, chat-to-video and 4K images. Text- and image-to-video runs at 480p-1080p, 5-10 s, with audio.
Generating video with audio requires a VIP membership and consumes extra credits.
Video generation costs 80+ credits per clip. The image tool is the stronger of the two media features in my view: it goes up to 4K and makes sharp single images, but faces drift between shots. If you want a character who talks back out loud, look for a companion app with voice calls instead.
Is Yollo AI safe and private?
I would not call it private. The operator is named only as "Yollo AI", and no legal entity name is given. Governing law is Hong Kong, disputes go to binding arbitration at HKIAC, and liability is capped at $100.
The privacy policy says it collects email, IP, device data and usage data, including chats, character creations and image prompts. Data is used for training its AI models, and chat text may be anonymized and shared with academic institutions. Users grant Yollo a perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable license to their User Content.
Public Visibility is on by default for image and video generations, and public content can be used for AI training. There is no in-app account deletion, even though the policy says there is one.
My advice: switch Public Visibility off, keep real names, photos and work details out of chats, and use email to support if you want your account gone.
What content does Yollo AI allow, and is there an age check?
There are no content settings to speak of. There is no filter setting anywhere, and Settings has only Language and Theme. A reviewer reports that mature chat is open by default, with no toggle or separate mode.
The messages are mixed. Marketing is openly adult, for example "Uncensored AI Roleplay". The FAQ says the goal is storytelling, not adult content. The policies contradict each other on this and on billing.
There is no age check of any kind. The Terms set a minimum age of 13, or 16 for EU residents. The image and video tools accept uploaded photos, which raises a risk of images of real people made without their consent, and no safeguard was seen in the interface.
My judgement: this is not a site for a shared or family device. The default feed needs far stricter moderation than it has.
Is there a Yollo AI app for iPhone or Android?
Not reliably. The site says Yollo AI runs as a web app and an iOS app called "Yollo AI: Roleplay & AI Video". But the App Store link returned HTTP 404 on 23 September 2026, and an iTunes search for "yollo ai" found no Yollo listing.
The Android button is stranger. "Download for Android" goes to wonda-ai.app, a different brand. That app, Wonda, is published by MOBIAI LIMITED on Google Play and has 10K+ downloads.
The link between the Wonda publisher and Yollo AI is not stated anywhere.
Credits bought in the app can be transferred to the web account by UID, but subscriptions cannot. Wonda in-app purchases cost $6.99-$199.99 per item.
My advice is to use Yollo in a browser and buy anything you buy on the website itself. A download button that changes the name on the box is a reason to slow down, not to tap faster.
