I stopped after 12 days without paying. My main memory is 5 seconds of a fictional card dealer, a lot of marketing, and a confusing Google search. For almost two weeks of use that is a short highlight reel, and I cut highlight reels for a living.

Still, I would not write it off, and the reason is the price floor. The $5.99 entry subscription is very cheap. The intensity slider and the per-character icebreaker scenarios stand out too, because they hand you a starting scene instead of a blank text box.

My verdict: MAGI AI suits someone who mainly wants pictures and short clips of a character on a small budget, and who sees the chat as the caption rather than the film. If the conversation is what you are paying for, I'd look elsewhere. Either way, I'd read the refund and cancellation terms first, because they are stricter and messier than the friendly price suggests.

The shape of those days was simple. A character got built, a retired card dealer called Vera, and she chatted, posed for a picture in old Vegas and shuffled cards for exactly 5 seconds of free video. By the third day her small talk had started to loop, and the paywall at the end of that clip was the natural place to get off the bus.

No part of it was a disaster, which is almost the problem. Nothing broke badly enough to complain about and nothing held me long enough to pay, so the site slid out of my evenings the way a gym membership does in February. The table under this section lists the plain facts: the period, the plan and how it ended.

Then and now

This review keeps two clocks running, and I'll keep them apart. My own notes come from June 2025. The facts about the site as it stands today were checked on 23 September 2026 on the web version with a free account.

Sign-in offers two routes: "Continue with Google" or "Sign in with email link (no password)". The link arrives in an email titled "MAGI AI - Confirm Your Email", and on 23 September 2026 it arrived within about 1 minute. Under the hood it is a Supabase auth link, and it expires after about 1 hour.

As someone who grades footage for a living, I notice when a set of faces shares a look. It is not a flaw exactly, since a consistent style is what a brand wants. But it made the cast feel like a poster wall rather than a crowd of people, and I found myself judging the portraits more than reading the descriptions.

My advice for browsing is simple. Pick a preset by its description, not its portrait, because the portraits are all good and they tell you almost nothing about how the chat will go. If none of the descriptions grab you, the creator in the next section is the better use of the free credits, and that is where I went next.

How the creator works today

The site has two builders, "Create AI Girlfriend" and an anime girlfriend builder. The builder accepts an uploaded reference image, and it lets the user define background, personality and script.

That is a reasonable set of controls for a site this size. The step order says a lot about priorities, though: Identity, Appearance and Physique come first, and Personality gets one step out of six.

The reference image upload is the feature I'd treat with the most care. It is useful for keeping a character's face consistent, and it is also the easiest way to put a real person's face where it does not belong. I'd use it for your own drawings or generated faces, never for someone you know.

By day 3 her blackjack superstitions were repeating: always the lucky left shoe. I had given her a whole career of superstitions, and she picked one and wore it like the catchphrase of a sitcom that has run out of writers.

As an editor I know that feeling from the other side. When a client falls in love with one shot, it turns up in every cut until nobody can see it any more, and that is what the lucky left shoe became for me. The small talk survived; the character behind it went flat.

The chat on 23 September 2026

The chat on 23 September 2026 was checked with an official character called Ayane, who is 23, a cosplayer, and tagged "MAGI Official". Replies came in about 5 to 10 seconds, which is quick enough to feel like a conversation and slow enough to notice.

The replies stayed in character and read as good roleplay prose, with action lines between the dialogue.

Asked about her costume, Ayane thanked the user, said she was "portraying 2B from Nier: Automata" and added that she had spent weeks "getting the wig and details just right." Asked another question, she came back with a teasing line: "You're asking me before I've even seen them? That's bold."

In June 2025 my chat with Vera felt thin and looped by day 3; on 23 September 2026 a short chat stayed in character with decent prose. I'd give the site credit for that. The caveat is that a short chat is where most bots look their best, and my problem in June 2025 started on the third day, not the first.

There is also an intensity slider with three settings, running from mild to the most graphic. I'd call it a sensible idea, because the heat of a scene is a dial, not a switch, and a dial lets a chat warm up or cool down without a lecture.

Group chat takes 2 to 4 characters, with the prompt "Pick 2–4 characters to chat with together". I'd treat that as a novelty for most people. Keeping one character consistent is already the hard part, and a group multiplies the continuity problems the way extra cameras multiply the footage to sync.

A reviewer on intimeros.com found calmer emotional pacing than many adult-first apps. That matches the tone of the replies quoted above, which lean toward scene-setting rather than rushing anywhere. I'd count calm pacing as a quiet strength; plenty of apps in this corner behave like a salesman on commission.

My verdict on the chat

My verdict on the chat is split by date. In June 2025 it was the weak link, fine for hello and thin by the third day. On 23 September 2026 it reads well in short bursts, and the question that matters, whether it holds a character past the first few days, is the one my own notes answered badly.

Short-term is the key word. Remembering something from a few messages back is the minimum for a chat to feel like a conversation rather than a stack of greeting cards. It is continuity inside one scene: the cup stays in the same hand from shot to shot.

The June 2025 notes point the other way. A character who repeats one superstition by day 3 is not so much forgetting facts as losing range, and range is what makes a character feel remembered rather than replayed. None of the facts checked for this review describe a memory page or pinned notes, so I'd assume the chat leans on whatever fits in its recent context.

My advice: treat MAGI AI memory as good for a scene and unproven for a relationship. If a detail matters, put it in the character's backstory in the creator, where it is written down, rather than hoping the chat keeps it.

Film grain is hard to fake well. Most generators hand you a clean digital image with a filter on top, and this looked like it had lived in a shoebox for decades, which is exactly the look I'd charge a client extra to match.

Five seconds of shuffling

Video is the upsell, and the first 5 seconds are free. I got exactly 5 seconds of Vera shuffling cards before the paywall. Out of habit I scrubbed through it frame by frame, and the cards changed suit twice.

That is a continuity error any assistant editor would flag on the first pass. It did not ruin the clip, but it told me the video model cares about motion more than about the objects in motion, and in a clip about a card dealer the cards are the whole story.

What the media tools include today

As of 23 September 2026 image generation and image editing are built in. An image from a non-adult prompt was generated in about 30 seconds, for free. Image-to-video and text-to-video tools make POV clips.

The image editor works only on images generated on the site or on official assets; in the site's own words, "uploading your own local photos is not supported". On voice the picture is thin. There are no voice calls, and paid plans list voice replies in chat only. A reviewer on intimeros.com saw no voice companion features, and the same site found video generation expensive and slow.

Given the voice replies on the pricing card, I'd read that review as "nothing you could call a voice companion" rather than no audio at all. Either way, anyone who wants to hear a character on a call should shop somewhere else.

My verdict on media: the pictures are the product, the video is a paid trailer with continuity problems, and voice is a line on a pricing card. For a site that puts video in the spotlight, that is an odd balance.

Add it up and the free tier is a week-long sample, not a plan. At a credit per chat message, the sign-up credits and a full week of daily drops come to ninety-five messages, fewer if a day gets missed. That is enough to judge a character and not enough to live with one.

Outside sources do not agree on the size. The review site intimeros.com lists the free plan as 10 credits, in the line "Free $0/month (10 credits)". That does not match the 25 sign-up credits on the site on 23 September 2026, and I'd trust the site's own balance over a third-party table.

A reviewer on heavengirlfriend.com found the free credits small, so image and especially video use push toward a paid plan. I agree with the direction, with one caveat for today: while the image promotion runs, pictures do not eat into the balance, so the pressure comes mostly from chat and video.

What is free good for? Building a character, a handful of pictures, one short clip and a few days of chat to see whether the character holds up. Where it stops is anything longer than a week, and I'd plan the free days around that rather than discover it mid-scene.

In June 2025 no clear pricing page turned up before checkout; on 23 September 2026 a public page at /pricing lists the plans in USD. It is the single biggest improvement between my notes and today. The page says a subscription and a one-time credit pack "both unlock the same Pro features".

The pricing page shows only monthly plans. There are three of them:

• The Monthly Pro Subscription at $5.99 a month gives 900 credits.
• The Monthly Pro Subscription at $9.99 a month gives 1,500 credits.
• The Monthly Pro Subscription at $14.99 a month gives 2,250 credits.

The review site heavengirlfriend.com lists the same prices: $5.99 for 900 credits, $9.99 for 1,500 and $14.99 for 2,250 monthly, plus Lite at $15, Starter at $50 and Premium at $100 as one-time packs. When a third-party page and the site agree to the cent, I'm more inclined to trust both.

What every paid tier includes

Every paid tier lists the same features. Each includes AI voice replies in chat, longer and richer chat replies, and unlimited adult roleplay in chat, which the page words more colourfully. Each also unlocks character photos and media, removes the watermark, includes AI image and video generation, and opens all premium AI models.

So the tiers differ only in credits, and the math is worth doing out loud. $5.99 for 900 credits, $9.99 for 1,500 and $14.99 for 2,250 all work out to about two-thirds of a cent per credit. The bigger plans do not buy a better rate; they buy a bigger bucket that empties at the end of the month.

That makes the top tier hard to recommend. For one cent more than $14.99, the $15 Lite pack buys 2,400 credits, a hundred and fifty more, and pack credits last a year instead of a month. It is the used-car lot trick in reverse: the cheaper-looking option on the page is the worse deal.

Is the step up worth it?

For a light user, the $5.99 plan is cheap enough that I'd call it an honest experiment price. For anyone who knows they will use more, I'd skip the bigger subscriptions and look at the packs in the next section. In both cases I'd read the terms first, because every payment on this site is final.

Per-unit costs on 23 September 2026

A chat message costs 1 credit on the free model. On 23 September 2026 each message deducted 1 credit, and 3 messages cost 3 credits. An image costs 10 credits, currently free during a promotion, and an image generated during the session did not change the credit balance.

Those numbers make the cheapest plan easy to picture. The 900 credits in the $5.99 plan are 900 chat messages, or ninety images once the promotion ends, or four premium clips with credits to spare. That is a real amount of chat for the price of a diner breakfast, and not much video at all.

Packs versus subscriptions

The one-time packs are the better deal on paper. The Lite pack costs $15 for 2,400 credits. The Starter pack costs $50 for 8,000 credits and is marked "Most Popular".

The Premium pack costs $100 for 16,000 credits, and a custom pack amount between $50 and $200 can be chosen.

Every pack works out to the same rate per credit, and that rate is cheaper than any subscription. So the size of the pack only changes how much you prepay, not what each credit costs, which makes the smallest pack the sensible first step.

The bigger difference is time. Monthly subscription credits are valid for 1 month and do not roll over; the policy's words are "each grant is valid for 1 month". Credits from one-time packs are valid for 1 year, and pack credits land instantly.

In money terms, a subscription is a gym membership you pay for whether you go or not, and a pack is a punch card that stays good for a year. For anyone who uses a site in bursts, the punch card wins without a contest.

A reviewer on intimeros.com found that credits run out quickly. I believe it. Chat at a credit a message adds up, and the premium video model at 200 credits a clip can empty the smallest plan in one evening of curiosity.

There is a catch. The reward has to be claimed by hand each day with a "Claim 10 credits" button, and a missed day's reward is lost; the popup says "Miss a day and it's gone." The daily reward resets at 00:00 UTC.

On 23 September 2026 claiming the day-1 reward raised the balance from 22 to 32 credits. The math tells a small story of its own: the sign-up credits, minus three chat messages, plus the day's ten.

I'd call this a mild dark pattern rather than a scandal. Seventy credits is real value on a site where a message costs one, but making people come back to press a button is a habit loop, not a gift. For anyone far from UTC, midnight UTC also lands at an odd local hour, which makes a day easier to miss.

Referrals

Each account gets a referral invite link, for example magi1.ai?invite=... A referral earns 10 credits for each new user who signs up, capped at 10 invitations per account. Referrals count only for major email providers, and temporary inboxes are excluded.

So referrals can earn at most 100 credits.

I'd skip it. A hundred credits is worth well under a dollar at the subscription rate, and collecting them costs the goodwill of ten friends who now get emails from a companion site.

These offers are real, in the sense that the balance does not move when they are used. "LIMITED OFFER" with no end date is a phrase I'd read the way anyone reads "last chance" at a mattress store, though. Plan as if it could end tomorrow and enjoy it while it lasts.

What is missing

There is no promo-code field. No first-purchase discount was seen. No welcome or coupon email arrived within about 10 minutes of sign-up; only the sign-in email came.

That is fine by me. A site that does not chase a new sign-up with a discount email is also not going to fill an inbox, and the free week plus the promotions already cover what a coupon would. The honest summary: the bonuses are small and real, and none of them is worth changing your plans for.

What the rules say

The Content Policy tells a different story. It puts sexually graphic content under zero tolerance, next to abuse material and intimate images shared without consent.

So the Content Policy contradicts the site's own marketing for uncensored chat and its adult story writer. I'd call it the strangest page on the site: a ban on the very thing the menus sell. The likeliest explanation is a copied template, and the terms section below finds more signs of that.

The controls

There is no separate adult-content toggle; the per-chat intensity slider is the only content control. Every character visited on 23 September 2026 was stated to be an adult, at ages 23 and 26. Browse filters include an "18-21" band and body-type tags worded more crudely than this site prints.

The default text-to-video prompt describes a submissive point-of-view scene. I'd prefer a neutral default. A prompt box is a suggestion, and this one suggests a lot before anyone types a word.

Age checks

Some pages show an interstitial that asks visitors to confirm they are 18 or older, with "Enter" and "Leave" buttons. The Content Policy sets the minimum age at 18, or higher where local law requires it.

No age-check method is specified. The refund policy lists "Identity verification at registration" as an anti-fraud measure, yet the sign-up flow asks for an email and nothing more.

The contact address is [email protected]. No company name was found in the legal sections read, and no governing-law jurisdiction either.

The footer reads "© 2026 magi1.ai. All rights reserved." with no company name. A copyright line for a domain is not an owner.

In plain English: you would be paying a website, not a company you can name. If something goes wrong there is an email address and nothing to escalate to. I'd treat that as the single biggest risk on the page, bigger than any clause below.

Who can use it

The Terms of Service require users to be at least 18 years old. They bar anyone under that limit, even with a parent's or guardian's permission. Only one account per person is allowed.

The one-account rule matters more than it looks. Combined with the deletion rule in the cancel section, it means a user who deletes an account may have no clean way back.

Payments and refunds

The Terms of Service mention monthly and annual plans, even though the pricing page shows only monthly ones. Terms 8.1 say "All payments for subscriptions, credit purchases, or other paid features are final." Elsewhere the wording is stronger: "all payments are final, non-refundable, and non-transferable."

Unused subscription periods or credits are not refunded. The refund policy says the site "generally" does not offer refunds for purchases or subscriptions. Three documents, one message: whatever you buy, you keep, and whatever you do not use, you lose.

An outage of more than 72 hours and duplicate charges are exceptions to the no-refund rule. Refund requests are answered within 14 business days.

The EU clause deserves a translation. The moment you generate anything, the cooling-off right is gone, and on a site whose whole point is generating things, that means it is gone on the first click.

A chargeback filed without contacting support leads to immediate account suspension. I'd read that as: email first, always, and keep a copy of the email.

Your content and your data

Output belongs to the user. The user grants Magi a license on user content that includes "Training and optimizing our AI models". Showing user content in marketing needs separate consent.

The privacy policy is very short. It says personal data is used "for the sole purpose of order processing", and that "We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information." It has no statement on data retention or deletion, and no statement on using chats for training.

Those two documents do not fit together. The terms license user content for model training, while the privacy policy says personal data serves order processing only. When a site's own papers disagree, I'd assume the broader one is the one that applies, and here that is the training license.

What it means for you

My summary for a reader: you own what you make, the site may train on it, you cannot get money back, and nobody behind the site has a name. None of that is unusual on its own in this corner of the internet. All of it together, on a template that still thinks it is a video platform, is why I'd keep any purchase here small.

A shared name is a small thing until it costs you an evening. My advice is to type the full web address rather than search for the brand name, and to check that the page in front of you is a companion site before you sign in.

Contradictions in the paperwork

The legal documents are generic and inconsistent: Magi.com video-platform wording, a 24-hour versus 7-day notice, a ban on graphic content on a product that sells it, and no company or jurisdiction. The two cancellation notice periods, 24 hours and 7 days, contradict each other outright.

A character card named "Emma Collins" carries a description about "Olivia Brooks". In my trade that is a slate with the wrong name on it, and it tells you nobody watched the take before it went out.

Small daily annoyances

Login is Google or an email link only; there is no password option. I don't mind magic links on a laptop, but on a phone they mean switching between an inbox and a browser every time a session runs out.

The daily reward must be claimed by hand or it is lost. There are no social links, so there is no community to ask when something breaks. A reviewer on intimeros.com saw frequent premium upsells.

My verdict on the friction: none of it is a dealbreaker alone. Together it adds up to a site that feels assembled quickly, where the product runs ahead of the paperwork and the paperwork was borrowed from somebody else.

It is not for anyone who wants a community or social presence, since there is nothing to join. It is not for anyone who wants a clear company identity behind the product. And it is not for people who need refunds, which on this site are the exception rather than the rule.

My own reading adds one group to each side. It suits visual people, the ones who will spend an evening getting a postcard look right and do not need the character to remember last Tuesday. It does not suit anyone for whom the conversation is the point, because that is still the part that gets the least love.

Renewal and cancellation on 23 September 2026

The pricing page says "Cancel anytime." Terms 8.2 say "You may cancel at any time on your account management page." The refund policy says to cancel through the subscription management page or by emailing support.

The fine print adds deadlines. The Terms of Service say a subscription renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing cycle. The Refund & Fraud Policy says to cancel at least seven (7) days before the renewal date.

Deleting the account

An account is deleted under Profile > Delete account. Deleting bans the account permanently: "this account will be banned and cannot be used to log in again. This action is irreversible."

Combined with the one-account-per-person rule, I'd treat deletion as final in every sense. Spend or write off any credits first, and save anything from the gallery you want to keep.

Before you pay

My checklist is short. Screenshot the plan and the date of purchase, set a reminder a week before renewal, cancel on the account page and send support an email saying so. Keep that email, because it covers both deadlines and gives you a paper trail if the chargeback clause ever comes up.

If you pay, pay small. Pick the $5.99 plan for a month, or a Lite pack if you expect to come back over a year, and skip the top subscription in favour of the pack. Check the credit ledger in Profile after the first purchase.

Any question, from billing to a broken image, goes to that one inbox, and I'd keep a copy of everything sent there.

The site has a Blog. With no social accounts to follow, it is the one place besides the banner where news could turn up, so it is worth a glance before buying during a promotion.

Search carefully, too. Type the full domain rather than the brand name, because the name has a history of colliding with an unrelated video model.

Finally, decide what you are there for. If it is pictures and short clips, the site gives a lot for very little money. If it is a companion who remembers you, give it the free week to prove that, and walk away without regret if it does not.

The free tier is good: a week of credits, free pictures during the promotion, a free first clip and no ads. Value for money is good at the entry level and weaker further up, since the bigger subscriptions buy volume, not a better rate.

Cancelling and billing are weak, because two documents give two notice periods and every payment is final. Content settings are mixed: a sensible intensity slider, a rulebook that bans what the storefront sells, and an age check that is a single button.

It is also generous with pictures while the promotion runs, and pack credits that last a year suit people who drop in and out. Those are real advantages for a visual, occasional user.

Where it is worse is the stuff that makes a companion last. Vera's chat went flat within days, the memory evidence covers one short chat, and the paperwork names no company at all. Each app in the table kept me longer, and on MAGI AI the parts that stuck were a postcard and a card trick.
