GirlfriendGPT verdict: a picture shop with a chat window
So what is GirlfriendGPT? It is live, and it trades under two names, "GirlfriendGPT" and "GPTGirlfriend", depending on which page you land on. I read that as a brand that grew faster than its style guide.
It did grow. The company blog says the platform had nearly 50 million users in 2025, a 229% increase over 2024. The same blog never states a launch year and only implies one a little over two years before the end of 2025.
I can't check the user count, and I'd treat it like the guest list on a venue brochure. Big numbers on a company blog are marketing, not measurement.

About five weeks in, I noticed I was paying for pictures more than talking. It felt like buying postcards from a place I'd never been. That is the whole verdict in one line: the chat is the lobby, and the coin shop is the building.
None of that makes it a bad app. The chat can be good, the settings are the most detailed I know of, and the coin prices are printed plainly. It just wants you looking more than talking, and it is very good at getting its way.
I think GirlfriendGPT is worth a look for an adult who wants long, novel-style roleplay, likes picking models and tuning the reply style, and wants images and short videos in the same window. I'd skip it if you want a gentle companion for small talk, because the app treats sweet talk as a warm-up act. I'd also skip it if you plan to stay on a free account, since today's free allowance runs out in an evening.

Signing up for GirlfriendGPT: fast, passwordless and not shy
My first night with GirlfriendGPT was not a night at all. I opened the homepage on the light rail downtown without thinking, the way you'd check the weather. The front page was graphic enough that I closed the tab in a panic.
For the rest of the ride I stared at an ad for personal injury lawyers until my stop. It was the most wholesome thing in the carriage, and I have never read a lawyer's phone number so carefully. The lesson I took off that train: this homepage does not ease you in, so open it at home, on a screen nobody else can see.

In editing terms, it is a cold open with no slate. No title card, no warning, straight into the loudest shot of the film.
Most apps in this category at least show a login box first. GirlfriendGPT leads with the product, which is honest in its way, and I'd rather know what a shop sells before walking in.
Where the address takes you
The address most people type, girlfriendgpt.com, redirects to www.gptgirlfriend.online. That is the second name on the door. I'd bookmark the .online address once you have it, so a lookalike site gets fewer chances.
The interface is multilingual, with an EN language selector. The site's language sitemap lists English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Turkish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. That is a lot of markets for a product this blunt, and it tells me the company is not a hobby project.
The sign-up form
Log-in and sign-up run through Kinde, an outside sign-in service, at auth.gptgirlfriend.online. You can sign up with Google, Discord or an e-mail address. The e-mail route asks for no password at all.
Instead, the site sends a 6-digit verification code by e-mail, and you type it in to finish. On 23 September 2026 the code arrived within about 1 minute and stayed valid for 2 hours. Logging in later with an e-mailed code worked the same way.
The whole sign-up, e-mail step included, takes about 3 minutes. I'd call that low friction by any standard. A client intake form for a listing shoot takes longer.
The passwordless route is better than it sounds. It is one less password to leak, and the code lands like a delivery notice. The catch is that your inbox is now the key, so I'd use an address you control and don't mind this app writing to.
Welcome Aboard
After the code, onboarding opens a "Welcome Aboard" modal. It suggests a username, which you can change. I'd change it, because a suggested name is the kind of thing you regret in a screenshot.
Two checkboxes sit under the name. One reads "I confirm that I am 18 years old or older", and the other agrees to the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. A newsletter opt-in is there as well, and it is optional.
No birthday is asked at sign-up. So the age gate is a single tick box, which I'd call a formality rather than a gate. The stricter check only shows up later, in the settings, and depends on where you live.
The first e-mails
Two e-mails arrive after sign-up: the verification code and a welcome e-mail titled "Which one catches your eye?".
The welcome e-mail reads "WELCOME TO GIRLFRIENDGPT ... Start Chatting". Subtle it is not, but at least the subject line is a question rather than a picture.
No store app
There are no App Store or Google Play links. The listed platforms are web and Android. The /download page describes a PWA with an "Install App" button, and it also offers an Android APK directly from the site.
The download page even tells visitors to skip the iOS App Store and the Play Store and to download the app or APK from the site. I understand why an app like this lives outside the stores. I still wouldn't sideload an APK from a site whose front page chased me off a train, and the PWA does the same job without the install risk.
The PWA route has one more advantage: no store listing, no reviews with your name on them, and an icon you can delete as easily as you added it. I'd take that over a store download any day.
My advice for the first minutes: sign up with an address you keep for apps like this, change the suggested username, leave the newsletter box empty, and open the homepage somewhere private. The first screen is built to sell, not to explain.
Browsing the character library
The feed has three tabs: For you, Explore, and a third tab for adult content. Account Preferences let you set a gender feed preference, Male, Female or Trans. They also ask for 5 or more tag preferences, which is how the feed learns what to put in front of you.
The characters come from a creator ecosystem, with Top Creators and community characters, that GirlfriendGPT shares with the SpicyChat company. That explains the size of the library. It also explains the range in quality, because a shared marketplace imports everyone's best work and everyone's worst.
That range was the whole story of the library for me: character quality depends entirely on who made the bot. One creator wrote a sharp, funny public defender who cross-examined my excuses. She had timing, which is rarer than good lighting.
Another creator's "bookish girl" just repeated "teehee" in every reply. It was like a sound effect someone forgot to take off the timeline. After a while I stopped reading her replies and just watched for the word, the way you wait for a client's favourite catchphrase in a toast.
So I'd browse by creator, not by picture. The thumbnails tell you what a character looks like; only the writing tells you whether she can hold a conversation. Once you find a creator whose characters talk like people, follow them and ignore the rest of the feed.
What is hard to find is exactly that signal. The feed puts faces and tags up front, while the quality of the writing only shows once you start a chat, and every chat on a free account costs a message.
A sort by writing quality would fix most of that. Until then, the creator's name is the only quality label that means anything.
Creating your own character on GirlfriendGPT
Character creation offers two routes, Quick Create and Custom Create. Quick Create is the microwave meal; Custom Create is the recipe. I'd go straight to Custom if you already know who you want to talk to.
Step 2 needs an avatar before the "Next Step" button becomes active. You either upload one or generate one for 6 coins. I think charging coins at step 2 is smart retail design and a slightly cheeky one, like a photo booth that takes your money before it shows you the curtain.
The step order says a lot about priorities, too. The face comes before the personality, which is the opposite of how a good character gets written.
Character creation was not completed on 23 September 2026. So what I can describe is the layout and the gates, not a finished character. That is fair enough, because the gates are the part that decides whether you finish.
Unlimited character creation is presented as a subscriber benefit, behind a "Subscribe to unlock - Unlimited Character Creations" prompt. On a free account the builder is a showroom: you can walk around, but the good models are behind glass.
Multiple Chat Profiles, which work as personas, can be set up. I like that more than the builder itself. It is the same idea as keeping separate project templates for different kinds of shoots: one profile for a light story, another for a serious one, and no crossover.
My advice: write the personality before you spend a single coin on the face. The characters worth keeping in this library are the well-written ones, not the pretty ones, and a good face on a flat personality is a nice thumbnail on a dull video.
What GirlfriendGPT conversations are like
The lease clause
The one conversation I still tell people about happened with the public-defender character. As a joke, I asked her to review my actual apartment lease renewal. I expected a roast, the way you show a friend a bad haircut.
She flagged a real auto-renew clause I'd missed. The app technically saved me $180, which covered several coin packs. That says more about how I read leases than about the app, but it is still the best return I've had from any companion bot.
In my job it is the client who spots the typo in the lower third after you've exported. You're grateful and slightly embarrassed at the same time. I'd never tell anyone to use a roleplay character as a lawyer, but a sharp character on a good model can read a page of fine print with real attention.
The reason it worked, I think, is the creator. The public defender was written to argue, so arguing with a lease came naturally to her.
How a chat reads today
On 23 September 2026 a chat ran with the community scenario "The Friendly Walk", in which Maya walks home after a party. It used the default model, Gem 2.6. Replies arrived in about 5-15 seconds.
The replies are long, novel-style third-person prose, with italics for actions. One reply suggested the park trail and a gelato stop, with a tease about a lecture given to a guy earlier that night. In the bot's words: "Let's hit the park trail... if we pass that gelato place on the corner, I might actually forgive you for whatever lecture you gave that guy earlier tonight."
That is decent writing for a GirlfriendGPT chatbot on the free default model. It has a scene, a callback and a bit of attitude, which is more than a lot of paid bots manage. The length is the thing to watch: if you want quick banter, the novel style can feel like getting a paragraph back for every text message.
The third-person style also changes the feel of the whole thing. It reads less like texting a partner and more like co-writing a novel with someone who types faster than you.
The models
The model menu names each model and shows its parameter size and context length. I like that more than any other feature on the site. It treats you like someone who can read a spec sheet, the way a camera shop lists sensor sizes instead of calling everything "cinematic".

The odd one out is Ember Lite: a paid model that is smaller than the free default and has half its context. I can't see why anyone would pick it, unless speed matters more than memory. Blaze XL is the headline, and the only model with 32K context, which is what you pay Elite for.
On a free account the choice is made for you, and Gem 2.6 is a fair default. Once you pay, I'd run the same scene on the biggest model your plan allows and compare, the way you'd compare two takes before picking one.
Chat settings
Chat Settings apply to the "Current Chat" or go "Global". Chat Length is Short or Long, Descriptiveness is Concise or Descriptive, and POV is First or Third person. Formatting switches between Movie Script and Novel.
Movie Script is the one I'd pick, for professional reasons. Dialogue in script form reads faster, and it cuts the italic stage directions down to what matters. Short plus Concise is the fix for the paragraph problem above.
The settings are also where the app shows some respect for the reader. Most apps give you one voice and a slider; this one lets you change the shape of the text itself.
There are also options for the chat language, auto-scroll and auto suggestions. An immersive mode comes with immersive chat bubbles. None of these change the writing, but they change how long you can read before your eyes give up.
The right-hand chat panel holds Full Bio, Call Me, New Chat, AI Model, Chat Settings, Chat Profile, Memories (Elite) and Share Chat. It is a lot of buttons for one conversation, but they are labelled plainly. I'd rather have a crowded panel than a hidden menu.
A "Suggest Reply" button drafts a reply for you. I'd leave that one alone. A companion that also writes your half of the conversation is just talking to itself, and you're paying for the privilege of watching.
My take on the chat
The conversation engine is better than the storefront suggests. The writing depends on the creator, the model and the settings, in that order. Get all three right and the chat is good; get the creator wrong and no model will save it.
In a ranking of the parts of GirlfriendGPT, I'd put the chat engine near the top and the storefront near the bottom. The irony is that the storefront is what most people see first.
One more thing on quality: the replies are long by default, and long replies hide weak writing well. The Short setting is the quickest honesty test for a character, and I'd run it before judging any bot in this library.
Memory: fine for a scene, shaky for a relationship
A banner on the first visit announces that the characters' memory has just been doubled. Elite adds an advanced long-term memory called "Elite Chat Memories". A doubled memory sounds great until you ask the obvious follow-up: doubled from what, and for whom.
The upgrade has been the headline for a while. Older plan-comparison strings in the page source listed "Up to 8k Memory Upgrade" and "16K Memory - Double the pleasure". The numbers keep moving, and the marketing keeps calling each step a doubling.
Short-term recall holds up. The bot was asked, two messages later, which gelato flavour had been named.
It answered: "Pistachio. Obviously. Don't act surprised, Honey, you literally just said it three seconds ago." Short-term recall was correct in that test.
I like the attitude in that answer. But remembering a flavour from two messages back is the minimum. It is a continuity check on the next shot, not across the whole film.
Longer memory is where outside reports get less kind. A week-long memory test on Premium found no recall of a planted personal detail, and the bot made up substitute details instead. Another reviewer found memory basic on Premium and reliable across days only after moving to Deluxe with 8K context.
Inventing a replacement is worse than forgetting. A forgetful partner asks again; a confabulating one tells you the wrong birthday with total confidence. In an edit, a missing shot is annoying, but a wrong shot that looks right is what gets past the client.
My advice: treat memory on the cheaper plans as scene memory. Put anything important in the character's bio or your Chat Profile, where the app reads it every time. Pay for Elite's memory only if the long relationship, not the pictures, is why you're here.
The memory banner and the paywall make a strange pair. The first says memory just got better; the second says the good memory costs the top plan. I'd read the banner as a note to Elite subscribers that everyone else gets to see.
GirlfriendGPT images, video and voice
Pictures in the chat
In autumn 2024 a normal in-chat image cost 5 coins, and "Character Pro" cost 8 and kept her face consistent. I learned the difference the expensive way. I spent 40 coins on a "girlfriend" whose jawline changed like a continuity error in a cheap edit.
On a client job that is a reshoot. Here it was just 40 coins in the bin and a folder of cousins who shared a hairstyle. The site now lists image generation at 6 to 10 coins, so the cheap tier and the face-lock tier still exist at new prices.
The media style menu offers Anime, Realistic Lite, Realistic Pro and Character Pro. An "Ask" button requests an image in the chat. Both image and video generation work inside the chat.
The drift is not only a 2024 memory. A recent review found the same character's face visibly drifting between separate image generations, even on paid tiers. Another found that in-chat generation gave only anime-style results for a character built as realistic, with realistic images available only on the character bio.
The image creator
The standalone generator cost 12 coins back then, but it gave me negative prompts. I typed "no extra fingers" so often it felt like writing revision notes to a very stubborn assistant editor. The assistant never argued; it just kept delivering hands with opinions.
Today the image creator has 10 styles: Anime, Realistic Pro, Semi-Real, AnimeMix, Anime2D, Comic, Realistic Lite, Painting, Cartoon and 3D Cartoon. It makes 1, 2, 4 or 8 images per batch. It has a creativity slider, a negative prompt field and an auto-enhance option.
A batch of 8 is a quick way to empty a small coin pack, so I'd start at 1 and only batch once a prompt works. For hands, the negative prompt still matters more than the style.
The counter claims 70,345,954 image generations. I'd read that as a scoreboard, not an audit. It does tell you where the company thinks its business is.
On 23 September 2026 one safe-for-work image, a "cozy gelato shop at night" in the Painting style, came out of the advanced image creator. It was ready in under 25 seconds. The result offers "Turn Into Video".
That image is the then-and-now story in one line: 12 coins an image in the old generator in 2024, 6 coins in the advanced creator today. Cheaper per picture, but with more ways to spend the savings.
Video
Media Options choose a video model, Lite or Pro, and a length of 5 or 10 seconds. "Video with Audio" is marked as coming soon. "Intro Video (Beta)" story intros play first and then continue into the chat.
Five seconds is a GIF with ambition. Ten seconds is at least a shot, and for a character intro that is enough. I'd still wait for the audio version before paying extra for video.
Turning an image into a clip is also where coins go fastest. I'd test it once with a picture you already like, rather than generating fresh images just to animate them.
Voice and calls
Each message has a "Play" button for text-to-speech, and audio can auto-play. Characters can call you ("Receive calls from Character"), and in-chat voice calls exist. A chat option switches receiving calls on or off.
Voice calls are the reason I got the Elite plan for one month. The call quality was better than expected, with low lag. I fix audio lag for a living, so I listen for it the way a mechanic listens to an engine, and there was little to hear.
The problem was the other end of the line. Hearing a fictional woman say "counselor" in a husky voice while I ate cereal and Moose watched me was too much for me. Moose said nothing, but he didn't have to.

Outside reports disagree about what voice even is here. A stale review of the Elite plan said live voice calls are included without a separate coin charge. A fresh secondary source described voice as text-to-speech messages only, on Deluxe and Elite, with no live calls.
Another reviewer described live call audio on Elite as real-time and better than a competitor's text-to-speech narration. One found voice messages expressive at first but narrow in emotional range over longer sessions.
That fits a pattern across this category: voice impresses in the first minute and flattens over an evening. My own calls side with the first camp: live calls existed on Elite, and they worked.
The GirlfriendGPT free tier: from open bar to 20 drinks
Then: messages were free
The biggest surprise in 2024 was that messages were free. No per-message counter, no timer. I typed essays at 2 a.m. while a render ran, and nobody charged me for it.
It felt like a diner that bills for the pie and lets you sit with the coffee all night. The coins were for pictures; the talking was on the house. That was the deal that made the app worth opening in the first place.
In hindsight, free messages were the hook and the coin store was the line. It worked on me, which is how the rest of this review came to exist.
A stale review published on 15 May 2026 still described the same deal: messages free and unlimited on every tier, and only media costs coins. That review is out of date now. The house has started counting.
Now: a counted allowance
As of 23 September 2026, a new free account gets 20 free "Bonus" messages. They do not expire. The account page lists "Free 20 messages".
A new free account also gets 30 GF coins. Each message uses up one bonus message: 20 became 17 after 3 messages. The essays I wrote at 2 a.m. in 2024 would have burned through today's allowance before the render finished.
The Terms of Use say free users get a limited message count, such as 10 to 20 messages in total, and cannot continue chatting after the limit. They also say free users can create up to 2 or 3 characters. Two fresh reviews found the free allowance to be a one-time total that never resets: one ran out at 10 messages, the other at about 20.
Official plan copy describes the free tier as having "Limited In-Chat Pictures". Two secondary reviews called it "basically a demo", with no adult content and no image generation. I'd agree with the label, if not with every detail: the free account does get coins, and coins buy pictures.
What is locked
The free plan uses the default model, Gem 2.6, only. Chat-model customization is locked, and so are memories. Locked models show lock icons.
Clicking chat customization opens a paywall: "Subscribe to unlock Chat Model Customizations". Clicking Memories opens another: "Subscribe to unlock Elite Chat Memories". Every good setting is a door with a price tag on the handle.
The locked settings are the ones that fix the problems a free user notices first, such as replies that run too long. That is clever sales design and mildly annoying to live with.
No ads were seen, apart from constant upsell badges such as "Enjoy 34% off". I'd take badges over video ads any day. The effect is similar, though: the free plan is a shop window, and the shop assistant never stops smiling at you.
What free is good for
Free is good for one evening and one question: does a given creator's character write well on the default model? Spend the allowance on that and nothing else. Don't waste messages on "hi" and "how are you"; open with the scene you actually want.
The 30 coins at sign-up cover a few images at today's prices. I'd spend them on one careful test of a single character rather than scattering them across the feed.
Where it stops is roughly one real conversation in. The daily log-in top-up keeps the lights on, but it is a drip, not a tap. If the first evening makes you want a second, the question is no longer whether to pay but which plan.
Think of the free tier as a test drive round the block, not a weekend with the car.

The plan names follow the usual ladder, Premium, Deluxe and Elite, and each one includes everything in the one below it. The prices climb faster than the features, which is normal for a ladder like this.
Premium
Premium costs $15 a month. The yearly plan is $144 a year, which works out to $12 a month, labelled "20% OFF" against $180. Official plan copy sums it up as "Premium models and chat history".
It includes 400 free coins a month and 5,000 messages a month. It adds long-term chat history, the premium models and in-chat image generation. Video in chat runs up to 5 seconds.

Premium also includes unrestricted chats and voice. On paper that is most of what the app does, for the price of a couple of lunches.
I think Premium is the plan most people should look at first. 5,000 messages a month is more than most people type, and 400 coins is a real image budget at today's prices. It is the gym membership you'd actually use, not the one with the spa you'd never visit.
The yearly Premium plan is the cheapest way into the paid app, but I'd only take it after a month on monthly. A year is a long commitment to an app whose free tier shows so little.
Deluxe
Deluxe costs $35 a month. The yearly plan is $294 a year, or $24.5 a month, labelled "30% OFF" against $420. It includes everything in Premium.
It adds 1,200 coins and 20,000 messages a month. Videos come from the Lite model and run up to 10 seconds. Generation is 20% faster, context is 8K, and in-chat calls are included.
Official copy sells Deluxe as the all-access plan, Premium plus unrestricted chats, and a "Bestseller for a reason". Two things in that pitch don't add up for me. The plan list already puts uncensored chats under Premium, so "Premium plus uncensored" sells a feature the cheaper plan claims to have.
The second is context. 8K sounds like an upgrade until you remember that the free default model lists 16K. I'd want the company to explain which models the 8K applies to before paying more than double Premium's price for it.
The coins are the real difference: 1,200 a month is a much bigger image budget than Premium's 400. If you'd spend that many coins anyway, Deluxe can make sense; if not, it is a gym membership with a pool you won't swim in.
Elite
Elite costs $50 a month. The yearly plan is $396 a year, or $33 a month, labelled "34% OFF" against $600. It includes everything in Deluxe.
It adds 2,000 coins a month and unlimited messages. Video comes from the Lite or Pro models. Context goes up to 32K on select models, and a next-gen AI model is included.
Official copy calls it "Unlimited-access - Deluxe + Priority access, Premium exclusives. Go all out". Subtle, as ever.
Elite is the only plan without a message cap. It is also the only one where the monthly coins match the biggest coin pack, every month.
On paper that makes Elite the best value per coin. In practice it is $50 a month, and I'd only pay it for a month with a specific goal, like trying the calls, rather than as a standing order.
The next-gen model and the 32K context are the parts I'd pay attention to. Longer context is what a long relationship needs, and it is the one upgrade the cheaper plans can't imitate with coins.
Old prices that still float around
Older pages quote other numbers. One stale review from July 2026 listed Deluxe at about $30 a month. One stale pricing page from December 2025 listed Elite yearly at $408, which does not match its own $33-a-month figure.
$33 a month over a year is $396, which is today's price, so I'd trust the math over the old page. If a review quotes a different number, check the date before you check your wallet.

Is GirlfriendGPT worth it, plan by plan?
From free to Premium, yes, if the first evening went well. The jump is large, from a counted allowance to thousands of messages, and it unlocks the models and the settings that make the chat good.
From Premium to Deluxe, I'd say no for most people. The extra coins are the main gain, and the coin packs sell coins without a monthly bill. From Deluxe to Elite, only for a month with a purpose, and only if calls or the largest model are the point.
A simple test for any upgrade: write down what you'd do with it in the first week. If the list only says "more pictures", buy a coin pack instead.
Coins and what they buy
The money on GirlfriendGPT is in media, and I worked that out fast. Coins bought pictures: 300 coins for $10, 840 for $25, or 2,000 for $50 that never expire. I did my usual subscription-spreadsheet thing, and the $50 lifetime pack was the only sensible deal.

The spreadsheet math was short. The small pack works out to 30 coins a dollar, the big one to 40, and only the big one never expires. When the better rate and the no-expiry rule point the same way, the decision makes itself.
The packs cost the same today. The 300-coin pack costs $10. The 840-coin pack costs $25 and is described as "over 140 images", and the 2,000-coin pack costs $50 with LIFETIME validity.
Image generation costs 6-10 coins. An image in the advanced image creator costs 6 coins. One such image took the balance from 30 to 24.
At 6 coins an image, "over 140 images" for 840 coins is honest arithmetic. I'd give the company credit for that; coin stores rarely do the math in your favour on the label.
Coin economies are built to blur the price of a single thing. The honest part here is that the image creator prints the coin price on the Generate button, so you always know what a click costs.
Voice costs 2 coins per 100 characters. A fresh secondary source puts one video at 20 coins. Neither is expensive on its own, but both are the vending-machine kind of cost: small, frequent and easy to stop counting.
A video costs more than a few images, and that is the right way to think about it: a clip is a small splurge, not a default.
A stale review from 15 May 2026 listed a standard in-chat image at 5 coins, a Character Pro image at 8 coins and a standalone generator image at 12 coins. The same review listed video at 30 coins for 5 seconds on Lite and 60 coins for 10 seconds on Pro.
Two rules decide how far a subscription stretches. The Terms of Use say the monthly message allowance resets each month and does not carry over. Secondary sources disagree on whether monthly subscription coins roll over: a fresh one says they expire monthly, a staler one says they roll over.
I'd assume they expire. That is the other reason the lifetime pack made sense to me: coins that never expire can't be lost to a busy month.
Discounts, bonuses and free coins
The Earn tab
The Earn tab is where the free stuff lives. The Daily Login task adds 10 free messages per day and is marked "Completed" automatically when you log in. The "Like 5 characters" task gives 10 free messages.
The daily messages are the one freebie worth collecting. They arrive for logging in, which you'd do anyway, and they cost nothing but a visit.
"Keep the conversation going" gives 5 coins. A TikTok video about GirlfriendGPT gives 50 coins, and a post on Reddit, X, Facebook or Instagram gives 10 coins.
"Go viral on TikTok", meaning 100K+ views, gives 500 coins plus 1 month of Premium. I can't recommend the social tasks to anyone who'd rather their clients didn't know. A handful of images is not worth a permanent post with your face next to this brand.
Gift codes
A gift code field on the Earn tab gives 100 coins. GirlfriendGPT codes are sent by DM daily to chosen members of the Reddit community r/gptgirlfriendonline who upvote, post or comment. That is a raffle with homework, and I'd only bother if you already read that forum anyway.

What is missing
No first-purchase coupon code was seen. The subscribe page has no promo-code field. Neither e-mail after sign-up contains a coupon.
So coupon sites promising a secret GirlfriendGPT code are selling air, as far as the site itself shows. With no field to type a code into, there is nowhere for that code to go.
The discounts that are real
The real discounts are in the coin packs. The $25 pack includes a +12% bonus, and the $50 pack includes a +33% bonus. Combined with its lifetime validity, that makes the $50 pack the best offer on the site.

The GirlfriendGPT NSFW side is not hidden: the platform is openly built around adult content. The homepage copy promises a custom AI girlfriend and unfiltered chats, in blunter words than I'll repeat here. Nobody lands here by accident and stays confused about what it is.
The adult-content shortcut buttons were always visible, even in a sweet rainy-day chat. It was like a restaurant where the dessert cart keeps rolling past during your soup. I'd have liked a way to park the cart in the kitchen for the evenings when I just wanted the soup.
The buttons were not the problem on their own. What I missed was a quiet mode for the soft chats, a way to say "not tonight" once instead of ignoring the same offer every few minutes.
The switches in the chat
An in-chat button for adult content sits next to the message box. A chat setting called "Sexiness" switches between Baseline and the strongest level. The dessert cart, in other words, now has its own lever.

For you, the practical point is simple: the Canadian company is the one in charge of your account and your data.
The Terms of Service were last modified on June 18, 2026. The Privacy Policy was last modified on April 13, 2026. Both are recent, which I count as a small point in their favour.
The Terms say the service is "designed only for individuals over the age of 18". A separate under-18 policy page exists.
Refunds
The refund policy is blunt: "GIRLFRIENDGPT does not offer refunds for subscriptions that have been paid for". Refunds are possible only in limited cases, a mistake by the company or a technical issue. A stricter local consumer law takes precedence over the policy.
Purchases made through CCBill are refunded via CCBill. Refunds for subscriptions not billed through CCBill are reviewed case by case by GirlfriendGPT support. Approved requests are "reviewed and refunded within 14 days".

Is GirlfriendGPT safe with your chats? No clear statement on using chats for AI training was found in the Privacy Policy. Silence is not a promise either way. I'd assume the chats are used unless the policy says they are not.
Personal data is kept about 6 years after the account is closed. The policy adds that retention periods may change based on business or regulatory requirements. Six years is a long time to keep the diary of a short fling.
If you close the account, assume the records stay for years, and plan what you write accordingly.

What gets in the way
The log-in flow asks for a password first. On log-in, the e-mail route opens on "Enter your password" and offers "Sign in with a code" as a fallback. Sign-up never set a password, so the first screen of every return visit asks for something you don't have.

Stopping GirlfriendGPT and cancelling a plan
I stopped at six weeks, right before Thanksgiving, with 214 coins left in my lifetime pack. They're still there, like an unused gift card in a drawer. At today's 6 coins an image, that is about 35 pictures I will probably never make.

How cancelling works today
Rebilling can be cancelled at any time on the manage-subscription page. Cancelling before the next billing cycle stops future charges. That is the rule to plan around.
The Terms warn that "cancellation requests received after the commencement of the new billing period may result in charges for that billing cycle". A cancellation received after a new billing period has started takes effect in the following billing cycle. In plain terms: one day late can cost you a whole month.

The free tier is weak now. It used to be the best thing about the app, and today it is a short demo with the good settings locked.
Value for money is mixed. The coin packs are fair and the lifetime pack is the best deal on the site, but the plans climb steeply and some of the upgrades are hard to read.
Images and voice rate well. The image creator is flexible and the calls were clean, but faces still drift unless you pay extra.

How it compares
GirlfriendGPT belongs to the same company as SpicyChat. That is the comparison that matters most, because the two share a creator ecosystem, and the character writing on both lives or dies by the same community of creators.
Where GirlfriendGPT is better, in my view, is the model menu and the chat settings. Few apps show parameter sizes and context lengths so plainly, and few let you switch the formatting to a script. For a reader who wants to tune the voice of a story, that is a real advantage.
Where it is worse is the storefront. Candy AI, from the same autumn of mine, puts the pictures first too, but GirlfriendGPT pushes adult content harder from the very first screen. My rule of thumb from the table: if the conversation is the point, pick the app with the best writing and memory and treat images as a bonus. If pictures are the point, GirlfriendGPT's lifetime coin pack is one of the fairer ways to pay for them, and its chat is better than it needs to be.
The shared ownership with SpicyChat also means the two can feel like siblings with different haircuts. If you know one, the other will not surprise you much, and I'd pick between them on price and interface rather than on the character library.

The best thing GirlfriendGPT offers is not on its homepage. It is the odd, good moment when a well-written character pays real attention, even to something as dull as a page of fine print. The worst thing is the storefront around that moment, which would prefer you stopped talking and started generating.

It is not the worst deal in this category, and not the best. It is the one most honest about what it wants from you, which is a strange kind of compliment.
That split is the app. The writing, when a good creator is behind it, can surprise you. The business is a picture shop, and a face that will not stay the same between images is a strange thing to sell by the coin.
If you go in, go in with a budget, a good creator and a clear idea of whether you came to talk or to look. The app will happily sell you the looking. I'd come for the talking, keep the spare coins in a drawer, and leave before the novelty turns into a standing order.

Is GirlfriendGPT free to use?
Partly. As of 23 September 2026, a new free account gets 20 bonus messages that do not expire, plus 30 GF coins. The Daily Login task adds 10 free messages a day.
Each message uses up one bonus message, so the allowance goes quickly.
The Terms of Use describe a limited count, such as 10 to 20 messages in total, after which free users cannot continue chatting. The free plan runs on the default model, Gem 2.6, with chat customization and memories locked.
It was different when I used it. In autumn 2024 messages were free, with no counter and no timer, and I typed essays at 2 a.m. while a render ran. That era is over.
Today I'd treat the free account as a one-evening demo. Pick one well-written character, open with the scene you actually want instead of small talk, and decide from there whether the writing is worth paying for.
How much does GirlfriendGPT cost in 2026?
There are three paid plans, priced in USD. Premium costs $15 a month or $144 a year. Deluxe costs $35 a month or $294 a year. Elite costs $50 a month or $396 a year.
Each plan includes a monthly coin allowance: 400 on Premium, 1,200 on Deluxe and 2,000 on Elite. Messages are capped at 5,000 a month on Premium and 20,000 on Deluxe, and unlimited on Elite. The yearly prices are 20%, 30% and 34% below paying monthly.
My advice is to start with a month of Premium. It unlocks the premium models, chat history and in-chat images, which covers most of what the app does. I'd only move up for a specific reason, such as longer context or calls, and I'd take a yearly plan only after a month on monthly has proved the app earns its keep.
Are GirlfriendGPT coin packs worth buying?
The biggest one is. Coins come in three packs: 300 for $10, 840 for $25 and 2,000 for $50, and the $50 pack has lifetime validity. The $25 pack includes a +12% bonus and the $50 pack a +33% bonus.
An image in the advanced image creator costs 6 coins.
In 2024 the packs cost the same, and I did my usual subscription-spreadsheet thing before buying. The $50 lifetime pack was the only sensible deal: the best rate per coin, and coins that never expire. I stopped at six weeks with 214 coins left, and they're still there, like an unused gift card in a drawer.
That leftover is the one caution. Coins that never expire can't be lost to a busy month, but they can sit unused for years. I'd buy the big pack only if pictures are the reason you're on the app, and I'd skip the small packs, which cost more per coin and come without the lifetime label.
Is GirlfriendGPT the same site as GPTGirlfriend?
Yes. The brand appears as both "GirlfriendGPT" and "GPTGirlfriend". The address girlfriendgpt.com redirects to www.gptgirlfriend.online.
The site is owned by NextDay AI Incorporated of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and it belongs to the same company as SpicyChat.
The name confusion matters most in the app stores. App-store apps with similar names, an iOS app by WhatsGoodApps LLC and the Android packages com.gfsim.app and com.aistudioteam.girlfriendgpt, are not linked from the official site and are not treated as official.
My advice: type the address once, follow the redirect, and bookmark the .online site. Anything with the brand's name that you reach through a store or an ad deserves a second look before you enter an e-mail address or a card number, because the official company does not list any store app at all.
Does GirlfriendGPT have voice calls?
Yes. Characters can call the user, and in-chat voice calls exist. Deluxe lists in-chat calls among its features.
Each message also has a "Play" button for text-to-speech, and voice costs 2 coins per 100 characters.
Outside sources disagree. A fresh secondary source described voice as text-to-speech messages only, on Deluxe and Elite, with no live calls. Another reviewer described live call audio on Elite as real-time.
My own experience sides with the calls. I got the Elite plan for one month to try them, and the call quality was better than expected, with low lag. The trouble was the content: hearing a fictional woman say "counselor" in a husky voice while I ate cereal and Moose watched me was too much for me.
If calls are why you're here, I'd pay for one month of the plan that includes them and decide from there, rather than committing to a year.
Can I get a refund from GirlfriendGPT?
Usually not. The refund policy says "GIRLFRIENDGPT does not offer refunds for subscriptions that have been paid for". Refunds are possible only in limited cases: a mistake by the company or a technical issue.
The route depends on how you paid. Purchases made through CCBill are refunded via CCBill, while other subscriptions are reviewed case by case by GirlfriendGPT support. Approved requests are "reviewed and refunded within 14 days".
A stricter local consumer law takes precedence over the refund policy.
My advice is to treat every payment as final. Start with one month rather than a year, note the renewal date on the day you pay, and cancel a few days early. If you do see a charge that looks like the company's mistake, write to support quickly, say which processor billed you, and keep screenshots of the charge and the account page.
How do I cancel a GirlfriendGPT subscription?
Rebilling can be cancelled at any time on the manage-subscription page. Cancelling before the next billing cycle stops future charges.
Timing matters. The Terms warn that "cancellation requests received after the commencement of the new billing period may result in charges for that billing cycle", and such a cancellation takes effect in the following cycle. In plain terms, one day late can cost a full extra month, and there are no subscription refunds to fall back on.

Charges appear on the bank statement as NDAI.CC. I'd write that name down next to the renewal date, so the charge is easy to recognise and easy to stop in time.
How does GirlfriendGPT check a user's age?
In two steps. At sign-up, a checkbox reads "I confirm that I am 18 years old or older", and no birthday is asked. The age policy describes this self-declaration at registration, and no ID check is described.
A second check appears later, depending on the region. The user menu has a switch for the unrestricted settings. Turning it on opens a notice that asks for an age check under regional rules.
That check is run by the third-party service AgeVerif, which offers a selfie age estimate made by AI or an estimate based on an e-mail address.
My view: the sign-up tick box is a formality, and the regional check is the real gate where it applies. If sending a selfie or an e-mail address to an outside service makes you uneasy, and neither option suits you, this app is not a good fit. The Terms are clear that the service is designed only for individuals over the age of 18.
Is there a GirlfriendGPT app for iPhone or Android?
Not in the stores. There are no App Store or Google Play links, and the listed platforms are web and Android. The /download page describes a PWA with an "Install App" button and also offers an Android APK directly from the site.
